AI Film Festival 2026: Exploring New Possibilities in Cinema

Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a part of how stories are imagined, created and presented. The Second Edition of the AI Film Festival, held on 25 July 2026 at the Main Auditorium of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), brought this changing relationship between technology and filmmaking into focus.

Held as part of ICCJ 2026 (International Conference on Climate Justice), the festival was organised by the Department of Liberal Arts, Christ(Deemed to be University) in association with the Centre for Korean Studies and the Centre for Digital Innovation. The event brought together students, filmmakers, researchers and technology professionals to explore the possibilities of AI as a creative medium.

The festival began with the inauguration, followed by the screening of three award winning student AI films. The films reflected the creativity of young filmmakers experimenting with new tools and finding different ways to turn ideas into visual stories. Rather than focusing only on the technology behind the films, the screening also highlighted the role of imagination, storytelling and creative decision making. The screening was followed by award presentation by Mr. Nuthan, AI Film Director; Mr. Jinho Park, Research Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST); and Dr. Sang gyu Park, CEO of AI Media Corp. Their participation brought together perspectives from filmmaking, academia and the technology industry. The main highlight of the event was the screening of the Indian and Korean AI films. Bringing these films together offered audiences an opportunity to see how AI assisted filmmaking can take different forms across cultural and creative contexts. It also reflected the international nature of the festival and its connection with the Centre for Korean Studies. The event continued with a Q&A session, where the discussion moved beyond the films themselves to questions surrounding AI, creativity and the future of filmmaking. It gave the audience an opportunity to engage with the speakers and consider how emerging technologies can be used while still keeping human creativity and storytelling at the centre. The festival concluded with the memento presentation, closing ceremony and conclusion, bringing together a day of screenings, recognition and discussion.

More than a showcase of AI generated films, the festival provided a space to experience how technology and creativity can work together. By bringing together student filmmakers, international perspectives and professionals from different fields, the Second Edition of the AI Film Festival encouraged audiences to look at cinema not only as a finished product, but also as a space for experimentation and new forms of storytelling.
